TEAM KIT

Tangent Expeditions will provide:

  • PLB (Personal Locator Beacon)
  • Satellite telephone 
  • Satphone SIM card 
  • SPOT tracker (to be carried and operated by the Team Leader)
  • Batteries for SPOT tracker 
  • Pulk sled and harness per person
  • Stove fuel and funnel
  • 20” aluminium snow pegs
  • Firearm and ammunition
  • Flares
  • Tent floor insulation
  • Snow saw
  • Snow shovel

Teams must provide:

  • Mountain Tent* (expedition suitable for arctic winter conditions – e.g. North Face VE25, MHW Trango or EV, Terra Nova HD Quasar, Super Quasar)
  • 1 x spare tent pole of each type/length
  • 2 x metal pole sleeve repair tubes
  • 2 x Cooking stoves (must be identical and able to operate on White Gas / Coleman fuel)*
  • 2 x Stove fuel bottle (empty)*
  • Stove spares kit and all necessary stove accessories*
  • 3 x lighters*
  • Lightweight cooking pan set*
  • 4 x days of lightweight Race Food (per day 1 x dehydrated breakfast, 1 x evening meal and 1 x dessert per person plus lunch and snacks. All food to contain as little water as possible. Minimum 4500 kcal per person per day.)**
  • 1 x day of emergency food (1 x breakfast, 1 x evening dinner, 1 x dessert plus lunch and snacks)**
  • 5 x days of hot/energy drinks teas/powders with milk/sugar (to make 5 litres per person per day)**
  • 4 x days of 24hr Camping Food for other days in Greenland (at base camp)**
  • Group first aid kit
  • Survival shelter (4 person)
  • 1 spare adjustable ski pole
  • Full strength 60m rope
  • Group crevasse rescue equipment (2 x ice screws, 1 x snow stake, 4 x 2m tape slings, karabiners)
  • Altimeter watch     
  • Spares & Repair kit (include Gaffer/Duct tape)

  • 100% UVA/UVB Sunglasses (maximum category 4 protection)
  • Sleeping bag (comfort rated to -17 degrees C or below, or a ‘normal’ operating temperature of -25 degrees C, or an extreme rating of -30 degrees C or below)
  • Sleeping mattress (closed cell foam) – under layer
  • Sleeping mattress (inflatable / down mat) – top layer
  • Breathable and windproof personal survival bivouac bag (as an all weather sleeping bag cover for a forced emergency snow shelter use)
  • 2 x 1 litre Metal Flasks
  • Insulated cup (with lid)
  • Utensils – Spork, knife, multi-tool
  • Insulated down jacket
  • Wind shell (jacket & trousers/salopettes)
  • Thermal base & mid layers (full length arm, body and leg coverage)
  • Ski boots (must be suitable and appropriate for temperatures down to -30 degrees C)
  • Skis / Bindings / Poles / Skins / Waxes (Alpine, Nordic, Telemark, Back Country all acceptable)
  • Climbing harness, karabiners & personal crevasse rescue items
  • Down booties for inside tent (optional)
